I am a 16 year old student from Colombo and I created this project starting in January and completed it by March 6th. I am currently improving this version after a long break for olympiads. I achieved the results shown here, including the 78 times compression for the YouTube video "How big is the universe". I sent this project to the European Space Agency's email with all the details and files. The Service desk forwarded it to the ESA Advanced Concepts team, a highly advanced research lab focusing on the future of Space. Dr. Summerer replied to me after 4 hours! I was very grateful, and felt magical about myself. image

Dear nameredacted,

Thank you for the email and the information you have already shared in it. At first quick reading this is of interest but we need to have a closer look. In case, would you eventually be available to present your work during a team/webex call?

Thank you once more for reaching out to us

I then received another email from another great scientist -

It’s a likely smart student (16 year old!) who picked up interesting research and at a young age. Her email spamming (I received three!) which I would not encourage is a typical pattern in that area of the world (often coupled with pushy parents)

After that, I never received a single reply from ESA. I saved all the email IDs too... I have created (possibly invented) a novel video processing technology on a 30$ master board + 5$ slave board and, a couple of other electronics (max cost would be around 40$.) I am currently improving the dotNVD technology. Please let me know/share your ideas about NonPU and dotNVD technology. I have uploaded this to Figshare. I am fortunate that NonPU is unique from NPU. It is based on 9 Algorithms I have created. If anyone would like the code, I would send them the full code. I will make this open source soon after presenting this at a conference or two. Dear Hacker News community, please go to this URL, where I published this as a PDF. Since I could not keep it saved on my desktop waiting for the perfect moment, and for people to recognize it, I made the user manual I created public. Even one small comment here would be genuinely valuable to me. I genuinely believe I could make this valuable to other humans in the future, starting with CCTV videos. Security videos are currently consuming hundreds of gigabytes per day even when no security incident happens or even when no movement happens. I would possibly be able to replace this with dotNVD. And I also believe this will be helpful for Mars rovers or video communication missions where we need to send videos over low bandwidth connections at micro-speeds. The FPGA used here is SMHAC 415 and I will be learning more about FPGA and pursuing my interest in Neuromorphic Computing and making computing more efficient. The SMH AC415 Cyclone IV board costs roughly 30$ and I bought it from a Chinese dealer because I couldn’t afford the original Intel Altera Cyclone V SoC board, which is about $250, even with a student discount

I would love to share this on Hacker News because I think Hacker News is the only place where I can get comments or feedback from world class experts in these fields. I posted this on Twitter, tagging many space companies, electric car companies with self-driving features, CCTV companies, and emailed this idea to OpenAI, so they could use this hardware for interpreting and extracting text for user requests such as video to text conversions, diagram creation, etc. And I would love to create a server rack with NonPU Instant devices connected each other and send them via mail.., so they can use them with their existing power hungry GPUs : ) but unfortunately there are many IP laws preventing them from replying, adopting or using non patented novel inventions.

Thanks everyone. Have a good day.
