I love this. Carney called a fight, Trump just throws a tantrum.
That guy began putting his name in tall buildings, in big golden letters. Then he wanted to have his name in the Kennedy center. Then he "changed" the name of the Gulf of Mexico. Now this.
It is all typical Trump: narcissistic, theatrical, childish, and most of all, irrelevant. He is the Nero of the Pax Americana.
If he were to be relevant and consequential he would do what he can't: raise even more taxes on other Canadian imports (beyond the 5% he taxed now) or even threaten the country militarily. But he can't do these things when Americans voters complain about inflation and war 2 months before an election.
He is weak and scared.
This will be a long fight, but so far Canada is winning.

It was very surprising to me 10 years ago to find people who supported Trump. He was obviously out of his depth in any debate, obviously a con man and obviously not that smart.
What’s even more surprising is that after all this time, all his grifting, indecency, incompetence, blunders, bluster and shameful behavior, it’s still more likely to get downvotes than upvotes for criticizing him.
It’s so hard for people to admit they backed the wrong guy.

Trump has a much easier and trivial solution to fixing the Canadian trade deficit: close the Keystone pipeline. That would instantly turn the deficit into a surplus.
Instead, he wants to expand that pipeline by building Keystone XL. This both illustrates Trump's duplicity and that the trade deficit with Canada is good for America (unless you're an environmentalist).

While I understand that the ‘America’ in ‘Lake America’ means the USA, I can’t help but think of ‘America’ as the America continent. In this sense the whole farce feels less political.
By the way, Carney may consider calling the USA ‘Nocanoram’ (Non-Canadian North America). This at least is more precise than hijacked term ‘America’.
