Show HN: GeoRace – geo puzzles and virtual journeys in one game

https://worldboard.games/georace

Hi HN. I've been building Worldboard (https://worldboard.games), browser games where the game world is the real world. You travel between cities and countries on a realistically simulated public transit system with 65,000 train/subway/tram stations in 46 countries. You can exit most of these stations upon arrival and "walk" around in town using in-game Google Street View.

GeoRace is, as the name suggests, a puzzle game inspired by GeoGuessr. But instead of clicking a point on the map as your guess, you have to travel to the exact spot, often a long way away. Along the way, besides doing challenges to earn the cash for your fares, you gradually receive more clues to narrow it down. As the other half of the name suggests, you're racing other players: the earlier you decode the clues, the sooner you're heading toward the right region.

You can play solo to beat other's time, or race them in real time, or team up with a pal against other teams. In real-time multiplayer you can even curse rivals, and share information, tool results and cash with your teammates.

There are two other games on Worldboard, both inspired by the Jet Lag: The Game YouTube series. Hide & Seek: a hider hides near a far-away station and the seeker rides the network asking geo questions to find them. Tag: one player runs, everyone else chases, and roles flip on every tag.

The games are free to play. Happy to answer any questions here.

Disclosure: the development of this game utilizes generative AI (mostly code with very few Gen-AI created game assets).
