Reddits anti self promo policies are destroying startups

I’m posting this here because Reddit just bans me whenever I talk about it. So let me explain. Reddit has these anti self promo policies to prevent spam. BUT they are enforced so strictly by Reddit, the mods and even the users that it becomes near impossible to share a startup. Now, Reddit in of itself wouldn’t get your startup big, but it prevents you from even being rejected. This causes people who make bad startups to not even know their thing is bad, leading to long drawn out failures. This even affects things outside of Reddit by shrinking the available spaces you can share your startup. So much for Redditors being for the common man .

I don't see this as a problem. We have a marketplace of marketplaces of ideas - yes, Reddit is a big one, but there's HN, Lobste.rs, even slashdot is still alive and functioning. If rigid bans on self-promotion are harmful, Reddit will die and more marketplaces of ideas will spring up to take it's place, like blades of grass on the prairie. We don't need every single social network to become an outlet for startup self-promotion.
