This is a theoretical framework which predicts some results using van der Waals magnets[1] to store the data.

Judging by this[2] recent review paper I wouldn't expect any super-efficient RAM chips yet:

Athough the diversity of vdW magnets is already impressive, a key challenge remains: achieving higher transition temperatures, particularly those exceeding room temperature.

Another critical issue is material stability, as many vdW magnets are highly air-sensitive. For example, CrI3 degrades within minutes of exposure.

Improving transition temperatures and stability is essential for the advancement of fundamental research and practical applications of vdW magnets.

Though they do say the theoretical framework they developed could be used with electricity as well, perhaps a more fruitful near-term approach?
