Given that the government already is investigating this, they must know about it.
Then, I would expect/hope that means they already had talks with Tesla about this.
If so, why start an investigation? They should either allow that car (without human-operable steering wheel or brakes), or order Tesla to wait deploying it.

Pretty sure I read some where that Teslas self driving should not really even be allowed on roads so idk I think the whole company should be stoped. Or at least they should pause production until the current on going investigations are done.
