I’ve used and recommended Glossika for the mass-sentence method of language acquisition.
Unfortunately Glossika seems to be enshittifying like everything else. The new app forces recording; doesn’t have a way to only listen and repeat (e.g., for practicing while driving in the car); doesn’t have a simple list of the sentences you’ve learned; and seems to be leaning into AI generated content. And there are hints that the old version will be going away. It’s a big bummer.
Does anyone have recommendations for the best place(s) to obtain:
- mass sentences (base language / target language pairs)
- curated for accuracy (not LLM-generated)
- with native audio (not TTS / computer generated)
- curated in a logical and efficient structure (like Glossika’s old presentation of roughly 7000 sentences, separated into A1–C1 levels, that efficiently present and reinforce key grammar and vocabulary for each language)?
- Bonus points for included IPA transcriptions.
- I’m open to paid services but happy to put together my own system with Mochi or Anki.
I’m aware of Tatoeba but hoping for something better structured (i.e., French A1, A2, etc.).
On the paid side, I’m aware of Clozemaster and Flexling.
Thanks for any help you are able to offer!
