The Publics Quest for Free, Verifiable, and Unfiltered Scientific Data

>The Publics Quest

Hey wait a minute I didn't think the general public was seeking improvement on this front as much as the scientists themselves.

I was more correct than I thought, turns out that is what the article is about.

The title should not have left out that it means "Public Domain", not the general public.

That's what's desperately needed.

The questionable thing is the idea of having it be "browser-native".

That really sucks.

And should be in the title too since it's such a bad idea, you don't want valuable fundamental data to be native to any medium which is any kind of a moving target.

If scientific data is to be standardized into an archival format, it needs to intentionally be a format not subject to revision for any foreseeable future. That's not easy but that's what it takes.

There actually needs to be complete confidence that experimental findings going forward can be more easily and widely distributed once browsers no longer exist compared to today.

In the mean time browsers need to get & stay compatible with an unchanging rock of a scientific presentation standard if they can.

Give me a break, browsers can't even handle the web yet, and that's what they're supposed to be for. Plus they're controlled by huge "institutions" whose primary interest is often just the opposite of free, verifiable, and unfiltered propagation of factual information.
