I'm a software developer with about 12 YEO, so far I haven't had a problem finding work and for the foreseeable future I don't see Claude taking my job just yet, but every month AI models get better, so I fear this profession will disappear in 5 or 10 years from now, 5 years ago when Copilot was just a fancy autocomplete tool I couldn't even dream of how capable LLMs could get. Thus, I'm not sure if I should start planning my exit plan and become a farmer or something before it's too late.
So, what do you think? Are you preparing for the post-developer world, or do you think this is just a bump in the road?

I'm seeing many small companies who are hiring the first software engineer. In the past, one software engineer could build next to nothing in a year. Nowadays, one software engineer can build a lot in a matter of weeks.
