Yes, it’s geared towards ordinary people—standardized resume formats and the like (though I’ve heard that companies also struggle to find good candidates, but here i don`t know). The problem is that the means (the resume) has supplanted the goal (finding an effective employee) and become an end in itself—and not just any resume, but one following a specific standard format. Those who do not fit into artificially devised selection criteria are immediately weeded out. Even if you have something better than a regular resume, it's not suitable for hr - straight into the trash. In such a situation, the only (highly hypothetical) path is a direct dialogue about the position with someone—ideally not a recruiter, but a tech lead or manager—provided you can offer something exceptional that justifies such an unconventional approach. Yes, this path is far from being for everyone—it is only for those who don’t fit the standard mold and have something to show for it. But such a path needs to exist, too, for those rare individuals. But how do you actually reach out to someone and try to strike up a conversation? (if you don't have contacts within the company) It seems like LinkedIn is practically the only way to try and message someone here. Or are there other options? somebody, as a matter of principle, refused to conform to the system, remained true to themselves, and tried to follow their own path? In my case, LinkedIn is completely out of the question, since my "advanced" account there was blocked over a year ago—and now they strictly block any new, empty accounts, which don't work anyway. In a situation without LinkedIn, it turns out that it’s impossible to even attempt to apply.
