Show HN: Linnaeus, a daily biological taxonomy game

https://play.linnaeus-game.workers.dev/
1•cartucho1•1h ago
What this is: Each day there's one target species, and you classify it level by level (from more general to more specific categories), with 10 seconds per choice. Faster answers score more, and there are daily and monthly leaderboards.

Why: I wanted to try out agentic coding (a bit late to the party I know). A friend gifted me a week of Claude, and this is what I got in 3 afternoons of full vibe-coding. I've had the idea for this game for a while (I'm a philosopher of biology), and this was a good toy project for it. I'd never vibe-code like this in a serious project, but wanted to see how far I could get / how good frontier models were, and I'm honestly impressed. I have mixed feelings about the whole experience, but I could have never done this so fast without it.

Stack: It's made with Svelte 5 and CF workers & D1. I've worked with both in the past and knew it's good for a little (free to host) side project like this.

Feedback welcome, especially on whether the 10 seconds feels right (I wanted to avoid people googling the categories while playing).
