If you consider that most AI agents now have a VM who have a Linux box, including OpenAI’s latest release (Dot).

I also read that 2% of Americans are using AI in one way or another. So, if the Linux Desktop also measures AI desktops which are controlled by users via their, well, UserAgent… then year of Linux desktop is already here or it’s very close!

If indirect Linux interaction counts as "desktop" usage, then the year of the Linux desktop was some point in the early 2000s when the internet, movie studios and edge hardware all converged on Linux.
