I built Authrot, because Google Docs and Word slowed to a crawl on my phone once my story passed about 25 chapters. I started with what I wanted, fast navigation between chapters, and scrolling that stays smooth however long the book gets.
Then, I wanted the story itself mapped out into a graph of connections by characters, places, and objects, all referenced to a chapter passage with context. Using AI to read each chapter, my prompts pick out these elements, and tracks how they change from chapter to chapter.
Here is a summary of features I built:
- Planner for building the story foundation, arcs and chapters
- Continuity, setups and payoffs, open threads, and plot holes flagged against the earlier fact they break
- A relationship web you can rewind to any chapter
- Chat with AI about your story to help correct issues of any kind, or even draft the whole chapter.
- Real-time document writing with collaborators, plus branches for alternate endings
- Import parsed in your browser, export to EPUB, PDF and Word
- Serial publishing on a schedule, and narration with a voice for each character
It's completely free to use, no subscriptions. You get 50 free credits to use AI. I would love feedback, especially from anyone who has written for LitRPG or fantasy.
