Quick story how it started: I was a freelance web developer in the past and also worked for several companies on web applications. For some projects we didn’t have analytics at all and we had to ask ourselves too many times what our users actually use in the product. Finding a good solution was painful, since we couldn’t use a consent banner (a lot of customers from the government) and existing tools were hard to set up so nobody took the time. I started with this idea already many years ago, but only really got to develop it in the past year.
So what is Privatrak? A product tracking tool which is simple to set up and doesn’t require any code for most use cases. It can be used just by tagging elements on your site in the browser. From that, funnels and analytics dashboards can be created. I also wanted to make it as easy as possible to use with AI agents, hence there is a MCP server which can be used to question the data and set up the project (every change an AI agent makes is tracked and can also easily be undone). It doesn’t store any sensitive user data and can be used without a consent banner or cookies. Sessions are calculated based on a hash that consists of the users IP address + user agent + random rotating salt (IP address and user agent are never stored) and are aggregated for each day, so the data basically only points at a group of users in the end. In many cases this is fine. Often you are only curious about a specific feature or trends and not what a specific user did. If you need to track people over multiple days or need session replays, this is not the right tool.
My main goal in posting here is to get some feedback for the product. Is the daily cutoff for sessions a dealbreaker for you? I just launched it and currently only have a handful of people actually using it. I built a demo project for everybody to see how it looks without having to sign up: https://demo.privatrak.com/
