Learning how to use a smart oven that can bake any cake doesn't make you a pastry chef anymore than using AI makes you an engineer. Part of the confusion is companies distorting the definition of engineer and shoving all kinds of other disciplines in there because there is no official license for software engineering unlike other engineering fields.

So for juniors, if they are only using AI, they're just on track to being a manager with some technical skills. Any junior that wants to be an engineer should focus on learning with AI, not solving with it.

Seems to me there's an awful lot of moving goalposts when it comes to AI these days. Who's to say that in ten years AI won't become darn good at guessing what people want and just making it?
