Korosta is a privacy-first user-customizable tool to highlight job postings based on how frequent are those, and your ratings: * how often the job postings appeared to the user -> fade repeatedly seen job postings * learns from your ratings with a simple local model -> highlight relevant ones * 2 versions: free and pro * almost everything is kept local (ratings, recipes, customizations, history), only licensing and payments require a server * no account required to use it (just when doing the purchase)
This is not a job tracker, job board, or automated application system. It just annotates what you already have visible in your browser's tab.

# Why
This idea started like 2 years ago, when I was laid off from a tech company (2024's common rounds), and I started the stressful job searching. For job searching, my main platform was, and still is, linkedin: I perfected my url parameters so I can easily have my 10 different tabs. But one questions that commonly had, was "Have I already seen this job post?", and honestly, I wont be saving manually every item in a tool like trello (or the new ones). That question plus my bad memory had me with: "that role is awesome!!! ohhh I already seen it... but 2 months ago" (something like job posting recycling? maybe).
The main objective of this tool/extension is to reduce the load / fatigue of remembering what you have already seen (and not in just a single site), and also highlight what could be interesting to you personally (by learning with your ratings) -> less time searching, and thus, giving more time to apply in the relevant ones, or doing something else (like recovering your energy).
One thing I also spent time around was in the customization / editor (+ the howto in the page), so almost anybody can extend the tool (recipes/cookbook) <- I get frustrated when I love a tool but I fully depend on the developer
# beyond the technical part (more context... you can skip it, and test already)
Around 16.5 years ago I wanted to develop and sell apps, like the trend in those days... I did not. One year ago, I was thinking the same with the first version, the tool was working (even though over engineered), but I got discouraged by myself by reading all the terms of services, legal + fiscal topics, all the things that I did not know... plus some sites are very aggressive with their terms of use and tools like this.
I got a job, then changed my career path to a contractor, and meanwhile I started looking for a job again, but since the end of 2025 I really understand the new difficulties of the job market + not being sooo young, so I took the previous tool, refurbished it but with a different mindset: customization first with a simple learning algorithm so it can highlight interesting jobs to the user -> the name of the tool "Korosta" means highlight in Finnish (its difficult to find a good name ha).
I do think that is even more relevant to release it now because of AI: some platforms are pushing heavily their AI-based search engines, that are not so easy yet to customize -> putting more stress / burden on us.
In terms of monetization, I defined it based on: I am not keen of subscriptions, I grew up with shareware (like Doom... you can guess my age now), and when a single payment give you something (I wont distribute this in floppies, though). And it ended like: pay once and keep for the same major version.
I learned a lot, and I am still learning, with this development, so I want to hear your comments. Also, If you are looking for a job right now, how does the extension feel to use?
