It started with project scaffolding, but I wanted something more general-purpose: a tool that could save almost any reusable starting point and bring it back whenever needed. For each language, I had a specific way of structuring projects that I have refined over years, but I could not find any tool which can quickly help to generate such scaffolding quickly. Copier and Cookiecutter exists but they depend on templates, and I didn't want to create templates for such tasks. One more use-case I had was when I used AI chatbots who suggest some project structure, and I want to quickly create that. So I wanted something offline which can quickly help me save and recreate file trees. Then I added snippets to it too, but I mostly use it for notes taking personally.
Some things you can do with it:
* Save Git repository templates locally and use them offline whenever you need to create a new project
* Create reusable templates from existing directories
* Save and recreate directory structures by copying ASCII file trees and the tool will read it from clipboard and recreate it (or save it for later)
* Save collections of files and generate them again in another directory
* Save text snippets and either copy them to the clipboard or generate files from them
The idea is to avoid repeatedly recreating the same boilerplate, directory structures, configuration files, etc. And you can use it as a note-taking app as well with snippets. It has templates support as well with Jinja-based variable replacement. Template updates are supported, but project updates are not yet implemented, have planned it for future.
It is written in TypeScript, runs on Node.js, and is available on npm.
