Tell HN: Getting spam after commenting on monthly Who's Hiring posts. Who else?

5•yosito•1h ago
I made a post on the monthly Who's Hiring thread, and since then I've been inundated by spammy AI slop messages of people pitching their vibe coded job search platforms. It's junk mail to the point that I probably won't post on a Who's Hiring thread again. I'm looking for real opportunities, not to sign up for yet another person's dead end job search platform. I'm just curious if other HN folks have had the same experience recently?

Here's the email I just got today:

> I'm Kelvin — I run Loker Dollar, a small job board for remote roles that pay in USD. I came across your post on Hacker News's “Who wants to be hired?” thread — the React Native, React + JavaScript one, based in Nomadic. US and EU, and it's exactly the kind of profile the companies we work with are hiring for.

> Being upfront about what I did: I added an anonymized version of your post to our recruiter search so hiring teams can find you. Your name and email stay hidden — nobody sees them unless you say yes.

> Two one-click choices, no account needed:

> Claim & manage my profile

> Decide how you appear and who can reach you.

> Remove me

> Delete the listing, and I'll never email you again.

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done to prevent people scraping and spamming these threads, but I do feel that these threads are being abused, and I really wish there were a way to only allow people who have verified opportunities to contact me about their own opportunities.
