Deeplist – ambitious European deep tech companies and investors

Hi HN,

I built deeplist.tech because I wanted to get an overview of European deep tech companies and investors, i.e. the ecosystem. My spreadsheet-based system was hitting its limit, in particular in how to ask questions of the data that’s more than toggling some filters. And putting some automation with intelligence in place to discover and categorize companies vastly increases coverage and data quality, though there’s a some amount of manual quality checking, obviously.

If you are an engineer or operator looking for hard-tech problems to solve in Europe, or a founder looking to see which angels/VCs/government programs (it’s Europe!) are cutting checks for things like quantum computing, aerospace, robotics, defense, biotech or any other deep tech, take a look. There’s also a stats page where I pulled together live-updated charts, maps and stats on the ecosystem.

*Quick Backstory & Tech Stack:* This actually started as a fun vibe coding project using v0 by Vercel where I thought I finally have something useful I can build. The personally useful prototype spiraled into something much bigger and genuinely useful, so I decided to turn it into a real, public resource. And as a PM-former-dev (-now-vibe-coder), the feature backlog is long and continues to grow. :-)

It is completely free to use. You can browse the core company and investor directory, and their individual profiles immediately without an account. There are a few advanced content details like investment rounds behind a free registration wall to prevent scraping. There’s also an LLM interface, which I just have to enable you on manually - email me.

I'd love to hear your feedback on two fronts: 1. The Data: What European deep tech companies am I missing? Constraints are HQ in Europe (though there are 1-2 exceptions), is a physical or research intensive problem and is venture-backed pre-seed/angel onwards. 2. The Build: For a project generated largely via v0, how does the UI/UX and performance feel to you? Give it some traffic, so I can see on my side, hah.

Thanks for checking it out!

Tim

Neat site!

First thing wanted to do though, was to filter the list based on country, which I couldn’t find any option for. (Why country? I was curious about possible job opportunities but I don’t want to move.)

Thanks. Built and deployed! Behind the login there are way more ways to view/sort/filter. :-)
