Show HN: I created instruments for people who have no idea how to play one

https://jamfetti.boondoggle.studio/
5•DJSnackySnack•1h ago
I designed Jamfetti so that anyone could jam out and make music even if they have no experience. It works by doing the hard part for you. Every note you play is shifted imperceptibly to land on beat. Every note also comes from the same scale so that they sound great together.

You can pair any instrument with a number of cool 3d visualizers. Let me know what your favorite pairs of genre and visualizers are!

Nice job. The notes quantized to the beats is similar to how arpeggiators work, or arranger keyboards such as when you change chord progressions.

If you like experimental musical visualization stuff, you might also check out electroplankton for the Nintendo DS. It's an oldie but a classic.

Oh, that's really cool, I hadn't heard of Electroplankton before. I'm going to check it out! I definitely see a big opportunity with pairing quantization with scales to let novices play well right from the jump.

Why am I good at this haha? It's very cool.

"Every note you play is shifted imperceptibly to land on beat." That's so smart, has it been done before? Feels like aim assist in video games

Yeah that process of adjusting notes to land on beat is called "quantization." It's a feature that many music creation tools have, but I've really only seen it used after the fact. Instead, I wanted it to be front and center so that you can play live with the slight correction. It's like musical training wheels haha
