Contact lists are bloated and made for a different time. These days just some plain labels on numbers should be enough.
This approach doesn't discriminate between contacts that are worth adding to a canonical "list of contacts" and people or institutions that have called you only once: everybody can get a label the same way.
I've wanted an app like this to exist for a long time, but never found it, so now I can finally be happy with my sporadic use of the phone dialer again.

My contact list offers one indispensible feature --- it supports call filtering.
For years I have run my Android phone continuously in "Do Not Disturb" mode. This mode can be easily configured so you must be on my list in order to ring my phone.
I can still see unknown callers and I can call them back if/when I choose but they don't have the privilege of making my phone ring on demand.
I find that life is better and much more pleasant this way.
Can Calltags do this efficiently without a contact list?
