Sunlight is the way I imagined the Mac working before I got my 1st-gen MacBook Air in high school (2008). I had looked at a bunch of Apple videos of Mission Control (Exposé back then) and somehow decided it worked like an infinite canvas. I even told my mom about it! I guess it stuck with me.
Windowing on the Mac is so good it's one of those "if it ain't broke don't fix it" things. And yet, it always felt lacking. So Sunlight reimagines it from first principles:
- 355"+ virtual desktop
- 120fps, fully native
- Multi-touch interactions
- Guides, grids and haptics
- Minimap
- ⌘Tab and Mission Control work as usual
- Works with your Dock, widgets and desktop
- Collision detection and magnetic windows
- Tiling and saved layouts
- Deeply customizable
- ...and much more (including agent support) coming soon
Free and open source, forever.
