Good half of "wellness" or "nutra" scam "supplements" revolve around promise of losing weight. After all, losing weight is people's biggest health goal in itself plus doing so fixes many other health issues.
Fortunately, weight loss seems to be solved due to GLP-1 drugs and soon, the newer similar drugs that can be take orally (not prions, but things that bend proteins similarly without being prions -> not metabolised in stomach quickly, so one can take them orally). So people who want to lose weight, now actually can do so without resorting to scams - and these drugs are so effective, if i was a scam weight loss remedy dealer i'd have a very hard time now.
So i really question the validity of the article's concern.
