Ask HN: How do you balance deep technical exploration with shipping the product?

1•grandimam•9mo ago
I often find myself diving deep into understanding every tool and system I'm using — wanting to master them before moving forward. While it's intellectually satisfying, it slows down product development. Has anyone found a good way to curb this tendency and stay focused on delivering?

You need to get good at dealing with ambiguity and abstractions. No one can realistically know or learn everything (of course, there will always be exceptions).

So, set aside a day or the weekend for these explorations if you have to. It is good that you want to understand everything - and when you are bored or want some change of scenery, explore away!
