The face of American capitalism is much closer to the guy who owns the local car repair shop.

True from a certain perspective, but I don't think it's a useful one: A loose class that collectively owns lots of stuff is not really the same as individual (or group) which possesses agency as a capitalist entity.

In other words, those aren't the guys making lawsuits to limit regulations, lobbying for international trade agreements, or helping change the worldwide blend of industries and services.

Has anyone other than Elon Musk confirmed that story? I'm not so willing to trust his word as I once might have been. (There do seem to have been multiple reports that he was sleeping in the DOGE offices, but that's very different IMO.)
