Anti-aging: Vitamin D shaves three years off your biological age

2000IU aka 50 micrograms is too much.

Vitamin D poisoning was not fun.

-- But yes it may have shaved 3 years of my life.

mmh0000•8mo ago
That's a very general statement.

For the last 10 years, I've taken 2500IU/day of Vitamin D. My last bloodwork put my D at 54ng/Ml which is slightly on the high side.

Everyone, but especially those using supplements, should be getting bloodwork done at least twice a year. Guessing which additional vitamins are needed in your diet is a great way to waste money. Bloodwork is covered by most insurance and will give you concrete numbers.

Also, I think you may have misread the title, it shaves 3 years off your biological age. I.e. biomarkers look younger than you are.

timonoko•8mo ago
Blood tests twice a year. Well no thank you.

I started taking Vitamin D, because youtube-doctor Joe Rogan suggested it instead of covid vaccination.

Worked very well because no Covid.

But then I thought I had it in 2024, but it was just D overdosing, too much calcium in the blood or something.

> Blood tests twice a year. Well no thank you.

Seems like an odd stance to take if you're purposefully taking things like vitamins to try and improve health.

But seriously, blood tests literally take ~15 minutes of my time, 2 times a year.

I Schedule online, go in for a blood draw, and get results a few hours later online. It's minimal effort (my favorite kind of effort) and lets me know which supplements are working (Vit. D for example, is working very well) and which are pointless (i.e. as I learned most iron supplements are garbage and don't get absorbed).
