I built Aurio, a free tool for finding wellness-oriented hotels across 50+ European countries. The core idea: instead of filtering hotels by stars or price, what if you could search by how close they are to nature and wellness amenities?
Every hotel is scored across 5 pillars:
Active Living – proximity to hiking trails, gyms, sports facilities
Water & Thermal – distance to pools, spas, hot springs, beaches
Calm & Quiet – how peaceful the surroundings are (away from noise/traffic)
Nature Immersion – nearby parks, forests, natural landscapes
Holistic Wellness – a combined score across all pillars
Some features I'm particularly happy with:
Interactive map with wellness points of interest around each hotel
Golden hour & sunset spots – find the best sunset viewpoints and beaches nearby
Dark Sky stargazing – hotels near certified Dark Sky Places
Pilgrimage routes – proximity to Camino de Santiago, Via Francigena, etc.
Best season indicator – monthly travel scores so you know when to visit
