To be fair, Apple has had some. Newton, and the electric apple car.

The thing is, Apple has no desire to be overt in public about the failed at launch, and rarely pre-commits, And Apple sits on a pile of cash which would feed this level of failure until fusion energy arrives. Meta does not have this luxury and throws money hand over fist at Datacenter and data transport costs. All it can do is trade capex for opex.

Apple used to think it might play in hosted solutions, but icloud is run thin, and very little is added that can be avoided.

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t claim it’s only luck and acknowledge this truth:
