I've just published the first alpha release of Garlic-Hub, an open-source platform for managing digital signage networks, after 7 months of work.

It’s built around the open SMIL standard and aims to be self-hostable, scalable, and hardware-agnostic.

Key points:

- Open source (GPL): Community-driven, transparent.

- SMIL-based: Compatible with most SMIL media players (e.g. IAdea, QBic, garlic-player, and others).

- Self-hostable: Designed for full control over infrastructure and data. (Docker install)

Status: Core features are usable, but it’s still early and some rough edges remain.
