This was mind blowing for me, as when I first came across such set-up. I did not know how it was implemented but something at the network level and it worked only on VPN of the company — but it was very useful
*There was only one challenge*
Sometimes I would even forget this short link, I would remember parts of it, but not the whole link. This happens due to the fact the not all short link will be like “go/project”. In reality it would be bit more complex like
go/team/objectives-2024
go/project-new-ideas
*That’s when I got an Idea*
What if, we make these link searchable? that would be amazing!
So I started working on an idea, I thought there must be many people like me who would want to get better alternative to find their links & tabs they want to open.
More importantly not everyone can do the set-up themselves, they might not all be as technical.
*Birth of the SimpleURL*
So I built a Chrome extension that would allow the same functionality that I needed
- Way for me to create Short Link e.g “go/project”
and search them afterward if I forget
- No more wasting time to look for links
As I started using the extension, I realised I am being very efficient everywhere and less frustrated
- Find a link in the meeting — go/objectives, go/obj-2025
- Find 1:1 meeting notes just with name of the person —go/ronak, go/john
- Personal meeting links — go/talk-to-ronak
- Links grouped and organised in the way that my brain remembers
e.g. team/objectives, team/roadmap, team/onboarding

I always knew there was a document about that thing (“what”), but I do not know where it was. Lost in an email? slack messages? another document ?
That’s when I came across Go Links at one of my company.
It allowed me to convert some of the long, complicated links to very short, easy-to-remember links.
For example, I can turn this long link
>https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YlD4iif7dodFT_CiRjkaYxqg...
into something like
> go/project
