Nothing says that has to happen in the terminal. All UI used to be console, and switches and lights before that.

I would suggest the opposite of this article: that a new kind of RAG IDE made for orchestrating agents is the next step. I also think that's what Cursor is trying to become.

The article itself says the reason Anthropic didn't make an IDE is not that it wouldn't be better, but it was too hard, and not in their wheelhouse as a model vendor. This is also why OpenAI just bought Windsurf.
