I shouldn't be surprised that this exists, but still -- incredible.

The internet was a mistake.

It is very sad to see monkeys(as well as any other animal) tortured for gratuitous pleasure. I wonder if those that enjoy this are people constrained from doing the same actions to people by moral restraints or the restraints of peers/adults/teachers/religious mores? The classical inhibitions are subject to 'end runs' by the internet whereby individuals who enjoy this are connected to people who perform these acts - all on an ecology of remote payment/performance/enjoyment? It is akin to facebook bullying - which occurs between known groups (highschool mates etc) as well as total anonymous strangers on the old text BBS as well as anything in between. Having been on 110 baud chats in the 80's up to the present, where anonymity was common. I note that is the first BBS's, that were tied to student/faculty arrangements where there was zero anonymity = rara avis! So this is a form of vandalism that vanishes when accountability is present. This has been seen, as well, with private FB groups where members are classmates and all are known and there are observers. Masked public protest - is that allowed? I once saw such a protest where masked people were present at a hate rally. Police arrested some of the masked ones to identify them, https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/warmington-cops-alleg... So the masked in public as well as masked(by handles) fear their actions might be associated with their person. Sorry if this = long rant, but it seems that accountability does act to reduce these actions

A few hundred years ago it was common for a death penalty to include grotesque tortures before the guilty party was actually dead, all lapped up by public crowds. We should be glad to some extent that we are shielded from this today, but it is not new.

Many movies today show ghastly injuries and death. Not sure whether the knowledge it is fictional makes it ok.
