Ask HN: How do you decide to split a long blog post to multiple posts?

If something is a "series" type post, I might break it up - for example, over a dozen years ago I wrote a series on storage (specifically focused on the product I then delivered services around, but it has broader application) - and then created a landing page for that series a few years later (https://antipaucity.com/2021/08/13/storage-series/#.YRaG1u0p...)
I also posted the Sun Tzu's `Art of War` as a series of posts
And a few other things along those lines
If it "makes sense" to break up, I will
Otherwise, I go with whatever length the post wants to be

Interesting - how did you know in retrospect that it was effective breaking down the series?

It was how I did it in the first place - made sense to me to break it up initially, so I did :)

Sounds obvious, but I split them based on the topic/theme/question I'm answering. Example...
