Programming Language Switching Politics: A Rigged Game of Power

6•ricecat•7mo ago
Previously, we've discussed Programming Language Switching Economics. Today, let's take a look at the politics behind it. I wasn't too extremely to throw my theories in a short time. But when I saw many employed downvoter crazily tried to give pressure to destroy my posts as possible, I believe it's not bad to make things clear and clear, everyday. That's very interesting, in the beginning, they said "oh it's just advertise", but then they realized so many people come to read;

So they move to "oh it's just AI slop", but then they realized no one can write such quality post and real experiences like so, and today, AI assistant polishing is good for closing the gap among non-native speakers;

Well, now they have to move to "oh, the color scheme sucks".

Color scheme? Seriously? Didn't you play cyberpunk games? Try it, it's nice.

OK, let's get back to the topic.

The last thing they will critique is the content, because they can’t
nalaginrut•7mo ago
It's a pity, I hope they can criticize the content, isn't there any neat girls/boys come to roast them a little? It seems they're winning.

Don't let them win, come on girls and boys! Beat their theory seriously!

KnuthIsGod•7mo ago
Superb article. Gave me much to think about.

It also has lessons for decisions in other non programming domains.

And you have a bunch of other excellent articles on your blog.

However, the color scheme, fonts and alignment all combine to make it much harder to read than necessary and will undoubtedly contribute to people not taking the content seriously.

I like your ID.

And thanks for the well-intentioned and detailed advice.

UX/UI is not an easy work and we'll take time to make it better gradually.

Something you somewhat touch upon: early adopters are invested in the success of their chosen language because they are relying on its success to make their investment in early adoption pay off.

If you are an early adopter of language X and invest time and effort in learning it, then that will be a complete waste unless X actually is successful! That thinking will encourage all sorts of behaviour (some unethical) to promote their chosen language.

ricecat•7mo ago
Thanks for the reply! It's a valuable complement.

I'll add your point for a further discussion in the coming third article "Programming language switching Sociology".

Of course, anyone are welcome to add points here, I'll delay to finish the third in the next week. Feel free to add your points so that I can organize them together.
