Building for Impact – Fireside Chat with Michael Seibel

http://promise-pay-5332344.hs-sites.com/engineering-for-real-impact
2•Mike_Promise•5h ago
We’re hosting a small, invite-only event at Promise in Oakland on July 17 bringing together world-class engineers and builders working on systems that actually improve lives.

Why this matters: Government infrastructure touches everyone, but most of it is decades old and painful to use. At Promise, we’re rebuilding payments and engagement systems for the public sector—think Stripe or Ramp, but for cities, counties, and states. It’s deeply technical work, with massive societal impact.

The event: We’re joined by Michael Seibel (YC/Reddit), Evan Marshak (CTO, ex-Palantir), and Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins (Promise CEO, former advisor to Prince) for a fireside chat on what it looks like to apply top-tier engineering to real-world systems.

We’re actively hiring engineers and product leaders who want to work on hard problems that matter—infra, data pipelines, financial systems, and public engagement tools at scale.

Happy to answer questions or connect if you’re curious.

This is not what Show HN is for. Kind of surprising to see a YC startup not knowing/abiding by the Show HN rules.
