Show HN: Legal Eyes – Turn casual text into legalese with one click

https://www.legal-eyes.ai/

Hey HN xD

I have an app that I think could really help small business's. It's called Legal Eyes, and basically it converts plain text to legalese. It's great for making your payment reminders more official for example. It's also region aware, so it will use the correct context depending what country and state you live in. It's super light weight and easy to use. I offer the first 5 for free so you can test the power of it, and if there is enough interest I can offer an affiliate program.

Here is a quick example:

Before

Hi Greg, I am still waiting on that payment you promised last week for the building works carried out at my address, could you please let me know when you can get this sorted out?

After

Hi Greg. It has come to my attention that the payment for the construction services rendered at my premises, which you assured would be settled last week, remains outstanding. Could you kindly provide an update on when this matter will be resolved?

Would be awesome if you could give it a spin for me, and let me know what you think? thanks for you time

The term "legalese" has a somewhat negative connotation for me. I also wouldn't consider the example given as legalese. It's just more formal and polite than the casual source text. Could still be helpful though.
ForgedLabsJames•7mo ago
really? thats an interesting thought, I always thought 'legalese' as a netural term. wording that is legally sound... something use to come accross as more professional. I will give it some though and see if I can re-term is as such :)
johnnyfuego•7mo ago
Or maybe it's just me because I usually try to go from legalese to something understandable, not the other way around. :D
ForgedLabsJames•7mo ago
hmmm so I have been thinking about adding a feature that allows it to go both ways, like a plain english version of legalese as well as the plain english to legalese conversion
yamatokaneko•7mo ago
Would be awesome if I could try it out right on the landing page, just 1 or 2 quick messages to get a feel for it.

I also thought students emailing professors or recruiters could be a great target audience. The more casual the original message, the more fun it is to see the before-and-after transformation.

ForgedLabsJames•7mo ago
thats a great idea! let me see what I can do. Watch this space :)
