I learned by my first mobile phone (mid 90s) one does not want to be constantly moments away from having to field answers or sort out some BS was either not time sensitive, not that hard for someone to learn something for themselves or for that someone to learn how to ask other people they don't or wouldn't often talk to.
For personal purposes - use an email client that doesn't send read notification would be the first step. Set it to text, don't do links to documents and enjoy the bliss. The job unfortunately, one is somewhat stuck if they must use various messaging services.
