I don't understand why this would be different than the Microsoft Office/LibreOffice situation. Adoption has been really slow in Europe (though it is happening - to the credit of European bureaucracies) even though the software packages essentially have feature parity.

I wonder if ai will change this for a reason different from what everybody expects:

It’s very easy now to port your infra from on hyperscaler to the other or to set up many of those services these scalers provide out of the box.

Writing terraform, cloudinit, argo cd etc is a breath with the help of Claude.

I could do al these things before, but now I can do them extremely fast and semiauto document what is build.
