Ask HN: Google Ads suspended my account with no specifics – what now?

1•gregsadetsky•4h ago
I'm at my wit's end with Google Ads and hoping someone here has been through something similar.

A friend and I run a legitimate web hosting/infra startup incorporated in Quebec. Our offering is straightforward – we help companies migrate away from Heroku to their own managed stack on AWS using our software. Our SaaS business model is straightforward. Our ads are basic and honest: "we will help you migrate away from heroku to your own stack on aws."

Despite this being a real business with a clear value proposition, Google Ads suspended my whole (Ads) account for "violating" their policies. When I appeal, I get the same generic response saying the account "was found to be violating" but with zero specifics about what policy was actually violated.

I've tried everything I can think of: appealed multiple times with detailed explanations, CC'd a Google employee family member who can vouch for the business' legitimacy, and obviously requested specific information about the violation. Each time I get the exact same copy-paste response from "Patricia" saying the account violates policies but never explaining which ones or how.

I want to give Google money for legitimate advertising but I have no idea what I supposedly did wrong.

I'm also afraid to create a new account because maybe my domain/name/business are somehow "tainted" now..?

Is there any actual human appeal process, or am I stuck in an automated response loop forever? Should I just give up on Google Ads entirely?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It's maddening to have a legitimate business and be unable to advertise it through the world's largest ad platform with no clear explanation why.
