The fact that companies have to hire third-parties to handle very privacy critical data such as government IDs or faces is such a farce.
Why is there no age verification service from governments around the world.
It's a simple redirect, NFC + PIN on your phone to unlock your ID, and a boolean from the government side to say the person is over 18. An expiration date for this information should suffice to have with an account.
You can even proxy this to really make sure the government does not know what site is asking. Why does there have to be a third party and every company now doing their own stack of bullshit.
Of course countries like the US are not there yet but everyone else is.
