Lets start with: Does Europe need to break free?

Absolutely they do. For oh so many reasons.

Can they? Well obviously everything is possible. What's more likely is winning the lottery while being abducted by aliens during a dentist appointment in Antarctica.

But it's also more likely than being struck by lightning while being bitten by a shark in the desert during a snowstorm.

So at least its possible?

Of course Europe can break free, there's no question about it. But the big issue is how long will it take? It's clear that technology supremacy is moving eastwards. That may be the deciding factor in the long run. Once the sinophobia dies down.
