Apple launches $20 monthly AppleCare One subscription that covers 3 devices

No thanks, don't need another monthly subscription.
apparent•1d ago
Same. I don't mind AppleCare for my Macs but have never gotten it for my iPhones/iPads (and never needed it). And this program conflates AppleCare and AppleCare Plus, which means you're paying for accidental damage and theft on all your covered devices. I'm careful enough with my computers that these are not things I'm really worried about. Plus, if my computer was stolen out of my car or home, it would be covered by an existing insurance policy (albeit with a substantial deductible).

I guess this could make sense for a family that has 3 iPhones and already purchases AppleCare Plus for each one separately. But for people who would be applying it to a computer, it probably doesn't make financial sense to add these extra protections.

No. More. Subscriptions. FML. I'm so done with them. And with expensive gadgets that score notoriously poorly for repairability. I switched to a cheap android and haven't looked back.
blibble•1d ago
my home insurance costs less than that

and it covers my apple devices!

e40•23h ago
What’s your deductible? Mine is more than most of my Apple devices
apparent•19h ago
To be fair, it doesn't cover your Apple devices malfunctioning — just being stolen/incinerated/flooded/etc.
