I'm Fred, a Canadian entrepreneur and ex-marketing strategist (4 years at two B2B SaaS company). Over the past few years, I launched two startups: one in Fintech, and one AI shopping assistant. I was a solo founder for the first, hiring devs while managing product, marketing, design, and operations myself. For the second, I brought on a technical cofounder, which helped a lot, I still handled product, frontend (which I learned myself), and everything else.
We eventually split because I realized he wasn’t interested in building based on customer feedback. That was a line I couldn't cross again.
Startups also drained me financially. Revenue was minimal, but what I gained were real, hard-earned lessons. Ones you only get by being in the arena. No degree or YouTube video can replicate that.
So earlier this year, I started looking to bring those skills to an existing company, ideally as a Product Manager or in an Operations role. I’ve applied to hundreds of tech companies, but got very few interviews. Most rejections came before I even spoke to a human.
ATS filters, keyword games, AI-generated résumés for AI résumé readers, it all feels ironically inhuman for something called “Human Resources.”
So I’m turning to this community
If your company is hiring PMs or ops folks, or if you have referral tips or ideas, I’d love to connect. I’m open to remote roles, and I’m especially drawn to early-stage teams.
Thanks for reading.
