US auto industry is protected by US government, especially against Chinese EV's, which are today amongst the most affordable vehicles in the world. This protectionism will give domestic manufacturers the breathing space to create new models to serve the mass market, which may be coming soon, Ford CEO Jim Farley only last week as indicated that they are going to have Ford Model-T moment in Aug 11.
