Growing up I remember not being very motivated, or smart, but one thing I heard from lots of people is that who you hang out with matters a lot.

So I chose to hang out with the smart people. I don't think I got smart, or motivated... but it did make doing the right thing (even if just due to lack of opportunity to do the wrong) easier / more likely.

Has to be tough to do in prison.
