Isn't the answer to this obvious? They lost the war, they were the bad guys. The older generation who fought WWII and the Cold War is all but gone, so now these people want to rewrite history, with "alternative facts".

Finding the absolutely worst possible people (the one trying to say Hitler wasn't such a bad guy, it's Churchill's fault) & amplifying their voices is far too effective.

Mother Jones had a Darryl Cooper hit-piece that provides the missing context on where this manufactured debate is coming from.
