Also, people who survive being shot probably are unlikely to die from metal poisoning, but it would be worth knowing the risk.

In the Hawaii fake alert a few years ago, some people claimed to avoid looking for a shelter because they were afraid or surviving the blast and then dying slowly and painfully (due to cancer, probably).
