This seems to me like another thinly veiled step towards de-anonymising the internet, like the new anti privacy porn laws because "save the children".

I don't like this either, but I'm not sure government-provided cellular internet is making anyone anonymous.

agreed, but it feels like a half step in that direction. I could be reading into it too much... but the timing and the context seem too close to be coincidence.

my concern is any laws passed that restrict internet access unless age is verified. This isn't "exactly" that but its very close.
