So China is still by far the worst polluter in the world but they are also making the biggest advances in green energy, and the hope is that it will eventually replace fossil fuels.

A bit of a clickbaity and misleading headline. But what i can't understand is why the Republicans hate renewables so much. I'd prefer it gets evaluated on it's merits and it should be allowed to compete in a free and fair contest against fossil fuels. "let the markets decide". I'm not one of the people who believes that the Trump administration decides policy based on what will cause the maximum possible social and economic harm but it's things like this that makes me believe that he's not a real conservative either.

Republicans don’t like green energy because the Dems push for it. It’s that simple.
quantified•4mo ago
That factor doesn't hurt, but don't forget that the ownership of resource extraction industries is super conservative Republican. It's a heavy greed machine. Good working conditions for the labor, good environmental outcomes for the sites, those issues put Dems on the other side from the capital aspect.

Remember that the Koch brothers are still resource extractors. Green energy lowers the value of fossil, so it's their enemy.
