Psychosis or Awakening both follow the same steps. Even with Mass psychosis and Mass awakening.

Next gen is already pretty anti-reality, cuz of the kind of reality they have been born into. Everything that can be monetized or weaponized has been. In the name of Efficiency and Scale. Sort of the new religion of a shallow rationalist.

In such a reality dominated by Attention Merchants and Attention Warlords, trapped in an arms race by the Algos to carve up the finite pool of human attention, it’s hard to tell awakening from breakdown but maybe learning to tell the difference is part of the work.

Rationalists embrace reality. Money addicts embrace status and appearance (even worse in Asia with the concept of 'losing face' avoiding to be accountable by any means) and that's a recipe to collapse. The Western world was all about commiting mistakes, forgiving then but to fix them later. That was valued, now no one cares. Because they don't offer actual products any more, just the 'envolope', as the Asians do. Appearance it's more imoprtant than the object itself.

Now, back to the Western world. I've seen Gen-Zers just buying a game to show the actual process of unboxing and showing it and then later to place it back in the shelf and not touching it back ever. Social media makes this and worse. It's almost a 'status makeup' for men. And OFC this polarizes the society like crazy, there are no 'calm centrist people' any more, or they are shunned down fast, from either radical left or the radical right.

Healthcare should be state regulated, as food regulations which should be harder too? You are a commie. Oh, you are against uncontrolled inmigration with no background checks, against telecomms' regulation (except for amateur hamradio bands and net neutrality and privacy) and in favour of small co-operative based companies, as Mondragon in Spain? You must be a money grabbing, spoiled, poshy and cocky kid against socialism.

Even if you are pro-taxes and proportional fines on commiting misdemeanors.

Yup the current architecture makes everything about attention.

It reduces the difference between who is loosing their mind and who is reaching enlightenment to 0. So everyone living inside that super structure can't tell anything anymore.

Trump doesn't care whether he is right or wrong but whether he is capturing attention. His chameleonic loyalty (to Israel, to Russia, to Evangelicals, to Bannon, to Carlson, to Kanye, to whoever) isn’t strategic in the traditional sense it’s opportunistic in the Attention Economy sense: Who will give me the most juice right now? And he became president using this strategy so everyone follows it. So this generates all kinds of confusion. We need changes that shift the focus away from purely attention monetization and weaponization.

But the rationalists are all like the other guy is monetizing and weaponizing things so I shall too.
